Hope Squad seventh- and eighth-grade students from all three District 47 middle schools recently participated in an Active Listening Workshop at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. The workshop, led by professionals trained in crisis negotiation and peer support, taught students how to truly listen; not just to words, but to the meaning and feelings behind them.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students from Lundahl Middle School (LMS) have partnered with students at South Elementary for a six-week mentorship program called Learning Buddies, focused on skill-building and leadership development. This initiative not only strengthens leadership qualities in middle school students but also fosters meaningful connections with younger students, creating a bridge between schools in District 47

The district is initiating a comprehensive review of our school district boundaries, beginning with the three middle schools, and will be using a Boundary Committee for the review and recommendation process for both phases. Click for more information.

District 47 has partnered with local judges to provide students with real-world lessons in civic education. This collaboration supports the social science curriculum, focusing on topics such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the US government.
